Bowen's Fixative is an aqueous solution of picric acid, formaldehyde and acetic acid for tissue fixation. Transparent yellow liquid. Ideal for the subsequent staining of tissue samples with trichromic methods, as well as for the preservation of soft and delicate structures. The Bowen fixator is especially useful as a fixer for tissues with chromosomes during mitosis and meiosis because it preserves nuclei and chromosomes exceptionally well.
