Eosin is a xanthene dye produced by the action of bromine on fluorescein. Belongs to the group  acidic dyes that stain structures of a basic nature (cytoplasmic structures of cells, erythrocytes, etc.). Ready eosin solutions are used for general staining of histological and cytological preparations in order to visualize structures. The result of using an eosin solution is the staining of the cytoplasm of cells in various shades of orange and pink.
